Doula Resources

What is a doula?

A doula is defined as “a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to a mother before, during, and shortly after childbirth to help her achieve the healthiest, most satisfying experience possible.” Doulas operate based on the longstanding tradition of women rallying together to help a new mother, and they serve an important role in the pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum experience. Their expert care has been proven to improve these experiences for mothers and their families, and in some cases has improved outcomes for mother and baby. DONA certified doulas sign and agree to a code of ethics to best provide you with the highest standard of care and respect while protecting your privacy and the privacy of your family. When looking to hire a doula, always look for a DONA certified credential such as CD(DONA), PCD (DONA), AdvCD(DONA), or AdvPCD(DONA).

Where can I find a doula?

Certified doulas are trained to provide only the best care to mothers and their families and are there to nurture you through your pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum experiences to make them the best they can be.

We are happy to recommend Birth Education Center for its large Doula community!
